No matter what the media labels it, the start of a Depression is what appears to be happening.
In my area, we're seeing cars with 'For Sale' signs lining street corners.
Craigslist has lots more activity. Muscle car prices are dropping fast there.
Lots of homes for sale...no buyers.
Even more foreclosures. Governer just passed law to extend to 90 days the delinquency period of home owners
Our states Food Stamp system is being overburdened to the point of not being able to provide the service.
More migrant workers hanging out in town.
Increase in pan-handlers
Friends losing jobs.

What are you seeing in your city?
We will not have a depression. President Obama has spared us from that. But the cost is going to be hyper inflation- coming soon to a grocery store near you!

Not many places are hiring here in Atlanta but a few firms such as CBeyond and NCR have announced plans to hire several thousand new employees in the near future.

Heading for recession????????? Bit like saying they Glenn Miller has gone missing. Jere in Florida we have been rock bottom for a long while. Lets hope that Obama can now steer us out of the mes he inherited. He is our only chance.

None of the above. Sierra County is immune to the economic fallout. New Mexico's unemployment rate dipped from 5.9% to 5.8%, things look like they're stabilizing a bit, it is not getting much worse.

We have a lot of home and businesses for sale in Sierra County, but then, we always have had a greater number than surrounding communities.

Next thread please.....

lots of short sales and real estate values have tanked - which is great for me since i'm looking to buy.

still loads of people in best buy, wal-mart, and costco, though.

You couldnt do it for six months to rack up some cash and move back? Six months isnt very long and it would be a unique life experience. If I got that offer, I will be packing my **** immediately.

Believe me I know. My brother took a 2 year assignment in Brussels. Much different I know - but he said it has been rough being that far away.

As a side note I read that if my wife delievered a baby there , born to one of the wealthy oil families the family gives the docotrs and nurses substantial sums. I really do not want to know what those sums are.

ok - I have to stop thinking about this. I am seeing dollar signs floating across my screen.
