Seems like the military got to Obama... he's now going to fight the release of the torture photos. There is no guarantee that he will win... in fact, I be he knows that he will lose... but at least he will look like he is listening to this commanders. I don't know how I feel personally... I think we've seen enough photos from Abu Ghraib to know the type of torture these folks endured -- it was terrible. But, seeing as so many people don't think what was done was torture, I think it would have opened up a lot of eyes to what the Bush administration did.

Thoughts on this reversal?

As the expression goes, once you let a cat out of the bag it goes wherever it wants. The secret of Abu Graib has been exposed and the country's image has already been harmed (i am not saying that what went on was torture but you cannot deny that the image and moral standing of the US has taken a hit). I say release all the photos and show the world that we have nothing to hide.

Never happen. Obama is now learning how the secretive Government works. There can be no such thing as transparency. This is all in the NWO handbook.

Oh but wait please don't do that....because then the Conservatives will claim that all the abuses (Like little boys being sodomized) were "ENHANCED" Interrogations ....

Hannity will then dare Keith Olbermann to Sodomize him to SHOW that it is not TORTURE....

He should have known better from the word go. This only makes him look "rookie"ish IMHO.

There is transparency and then there is transparency.

Just like a headline grabbing murder, we read the horrendous details but do we really need to see the crime scene photos, I think not. What purpose does it serve other than to satisfy our somewhat morbid curiosity?

Now before anyone start jumping up and down that this is some double standard, I dropped my subscription to Salon as a result of their publication of previously unpublished Abu Ghraib photographs because I couldn't for the life of me understand the purpose. I, like many, were outrage enough about the initial photographs so I didn't see how their publication would result in making me more outraged or how my increased level of outrageousness would result in a different outcome.

So what is to be gained vs what is to be lost?
