Look in the mirror. The conservatives invented that strategy.

And yes, people can post things anti-Obama without your presumably hated bunch responding like its counterparts.

I didn't find anything embarrassing about the video. People make mistakes and he covered himself quite well. The audience didn't gasp or ridicule him. Haven't you guys ever seen a person make a mistake while speaking to an audience? I don't find this video near as embarrassing as those of his predecessor who, unlike Obama, could hardly speak the language of his country with or without a teleprompter.

But what possesses people to ridicule each other like this? It really says something about our country when we hold other people up to impossible standards and laugh at them like cruel children on the playground. Of course, our penchant for prescribing torture and paying to see all the "Saw" movies are just as large indicators of our impending fall into the abyss. We are becoming like our purported enemies: valueless, disrespectful, and inhumane.

This is embarrassing. He is so dependent on the TOTUS that he does not even know what he is reading. So all he has going for him is a good speech writer and a TOTUS that only screws up once in a while. Pretty pathetic.
The funniest part of the video wasn't that he messed up, it was that he resumed his speech with all the vigor, fire and passion like it was a "from the heart" speech.....all the while, everyone knows the airhead was just reading.

Was that Geppetto I saw pulling the strings attached to Obama's arms?

Let's see...you are President of the USA. You are bombarded with information from many sources every day. You have a busy schedule. Obviously, like all recent and former Presidents, you have speechwriters. You take time to review the speeches and make corrections when possible, after all, they will be YOUR words when you speak them.

To say that Obama is an airhead because he's just reading words is the height of stupidity. Bush could never muster anything remotely intelligent or passionate in his speeches yet Obama is eloquent enough to interject humor (often at himself) and to quickly regain his composure when he or technology messes up. As I wrote earlier, everybody makes mistakes. I never heard Bush say anything that didn't smack of sixth grade grammar class, but, hey, gsupstate, if that's your comprehension level--fine. I'd like to see you do Obama's job with the same dexterity. Go ahead, juggle those those multi-tasks and still manage to inject emotion in your speeches. Most people couldn't convey anything beyond a boring monotone.

Mind you, I didn't vote for him so I'm not showing partisanship.

I don't understand, is a teleprompter new technology/concept for some of you old GOP farts? Teleprompters have been around for a while now. All leaders use them.

Bush used a teleprompter but he still sounded like an idiot.

Then why did you just say it here?

Obama isn't an airhead because he reads his speeches.

He's an airhead because, when the teleprompter stops or jams, suddenly he can't think of anything to say. This is the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES we're talking about here.

Even GWB could get through a screwup like that, in better shape than Obama does.

Another reason Obama is getting razzed about it, is because he was elected mostly on his superb elocution, diction, and vocabulary. He really did seem bright. And now we find out that, when the teleprompter goes away, all his elocution and presence of mind vanishes.

In other words, he never had any to start with. Even his brilliant speech-giving, was faked.

No other president has used TOTUS the way obama has.

He can't give a speech, an introduction, or any other kind of public speaking without TOTUS.

Haven't most recent presidents used a teleprompter?

Would some non-GOP person please explain to me what this obsessive fixation on Obama in connection with a teleprompter is all about? It's very weird.

Obama does have "superb elocution, diction, and vocabulary." And he's much more than simply "bright." When the teleprompter goes away, he makes people laugh and then he continues. Nothing "faked" about Obama. What's "faked" is this pathetic attempt--because you neo-cons have nothing else, absolutely nothing else--at disdain. Have you people any idea how truly pitiful you appear? You probably voted for that moron Bush, and now you think you can mock Obama's speech skills and be taken seriously? You've got to be frigging kidding me. Pathetic.

How many teleprompters does it take to know how many states there are?
