Your link doesn't work so while trying to find out what it is you are ranting about, I ran across this, but I don't think this is what you wanted to talk about.

"Arizona scored highest among the 50 states in its plan to combat pandemic influenza, a welcome send-off for outgoing Gov. Janet Napolitano as she prepares to take over Homeland Security in the Obama administration.

The state, and Napolitano, took a hit last month when another study by a nonprofit public health group ranked the state tied for last in disaster preparedness."

State tops in pandemic planning

Take it from someone who is a AZ native..Napolitano was a disaster to AZ when it came to securing the border. Thanks to brave visionaries like Sherriff Joe Arpaio PHoenix is alot more secure despite Napolitano allowing Phoenix to become a sanctuary city!

Is it true that Maricopa County taxpayers have so far had to pay nearly $50 million in settlement of lawsuits brought against your brave visionary?

Default I agree with Newt - Oppose Geithner, a tax dodger ....

who also happens to be President of the Federal Reserve Bank of NY. How in the world can this man even be considered for Treasury Secretary? Where is the outrage from the Left? From the media?

Can we all just admit RIGHT NOW that if this were a republican appointee, he would be DOA in the Senate?

I mean, this is beyond comprehension, a man who failed to pay SS taxes, hired an illegal and also received compensation for those taxes he failed to pay - and didn't pay up completely until THE DAY HE WAS NOMINATED - the double standard here is just astounding.

Washington Times - Gingrich urges GOP to fight Geithner

Quote:
Mr. Gingrich said Mr. Geithner's failure to pay Social Security and Medicare taxes for 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 should automatically disqualify him, and that if Mr. Obama doesn't withdraw the nomination Republicans should make a stand.

"Maybe they think it's OK that he didn't pay his taxes until he got caught," Mr. Karem said. "They talk about leadership. What leadership? They talk about Republican participles, but yet they keep quiet. They fear being taken on by the media and far left."
Quote:
"Geithner has had to pay $33,000 in back taxes and $15,000 in interest," Mr. Gingrich said. "The IRS did not fine him. Ask small businesses how many of them think they could avoid paying self-employment Social Security and Medicare taxes for seven years and not be fined."
Would any of us be allowed to get away with this? Isn't this the very essence of what is wrong with Washington politics?

Geithner Accepted IMF Reimbursement for Taxes He Didn't Pay

Quote:
At the end of the tax allowance form were the words, “I hereby certify that all the information contained herein is true to the best of my knowledge and belief and that I will pay the taxes for which I have received tax allowance payments from the Fund.†Geithner signed the form. He accepted the allowance payment. He didn’t pay the tax. For several years in a row.

“Yes,†one source answered. “He was getting the money. He was being paid a tax allowance to pay him for tax payments that he should have made but had not.â€
Please, can the lefties on the board explain your reasoning and justification for giving this guy a pass?

I read that the real reason for his not being approved is that without a Treasury secretary, Congress gets to make the decisions. If something terrible happens and that office is not filled, Congress gets to decide where our money goes. This tax evasion thing, while major to us average citizens, could just be a delaying tactic. He is I believe, after all, a Wall Street insider anyway.

That still doesn't answer my question; Can you imagine yourself having this attitude if a republican were in his shoes?

The guy blatantly broke the tax laws - and he should be TS?

Has the country gone insane with obamamania that such a thing could be considered a little hiccup?

Since you have no ability to put yourself in anothers shoes, this post has no validity.

GOD I can't stand this partisan bullcrap! I don't give a *)%#% about one's party. Both are crooked. Why are you attributing this to Obamamania? What does throwing a party to distract us from bad times got to do with this? No, I don't think the guy should be the Treasury Secretary. He should be in jail. All I'm saying is that it's suspicious that he's being held up on this issue when others have sailed through with greater crimes. Nothing partisan here. And yes the country has gone insane in NOT realizing how bad reality actually is.

leftists wailed endlessly about joe the plumber's measly $1400 in back taxes [long since paid off] yet casually dismiss an actual Treasury Secretary of the United States appointee dodging tens of thousands of dollars in income tax.
seems odd, no?

How does anyone fail to pay $34,000 in taxes and call it a mistake? How does someone who wants to be Treasury Secretary not understand paying taxes? How screwed are we right about now?
