I know we've got some great NM posters on here, and I'd like to get some "local color" on the Senate race. Is the David Iglesias situation playing a role?

When Dominici announced his "retirement" I was suprised, I knew the Bush DOJ would never investigate his meddling but I guess he could read the writing on the wall.

I thought Heather Wilson would be a shoe in for his seat, but the NM Republican Party might have figured out that having her run, and maybe win might not be so good when the Hillary Clinton or John Edwards (guess that won't come to be now) DOJ comes knocking on her door.

I try to keep up with the polls on RCP but that doesn't give me a "feel" for the race. I'll be in Santa Fe and ABQ this weekend but not sure how much time I'll have for reading the local papers.

Let us know what's going on.

If you go to santafenewmexican, com you can read, or sign up to receive the Santa Fe daily newspaper. It is the oldest newspaper in the state. and has all the NM political news. It is on the Liberal side, but NM is a very liberal state.

All I know about New Mexico is that it has like three cities, a huge military presence and their Department of Transportation is incompetent.

Why is this posted here, anyway? Wouldn't it be more apropos in the New Mexico forum?
