A You and your post embody the entire essense of liberal elitism.
My OP said nothing about me.
My post observed that knowledge, wisdom, intellect and maturity are treated like a disease, by people who do not have it and are afraid they will catch it. You appear to believe that that is the way it should be, and American will only be a more perfect union when control is in the hands of those who do not have knowledge, wisdom, intellect or maturity. And you use the worst insult you can think of (liberal) to describe the afflicted.
are you suggesting I am being dishonest? this was an actual article on ABC with real life pictures. you seem a little out of touch with the real world. real poverty doesn't really exist anymore. you paint a jaded picture of starving children and the rich fat cats who deprive them of milk. I live in a poor neighborhood, and the poorest of the poor still live 50000000000000 times better than a middle class person in pakistan. the only people who go without are the homeless, and the homeless usually have drug or mental problems.
The liberals are trying to dumb down America, they don't want you to be successful because then you wouldn't vote them into office anymore...
A year ago, the most successful people in America were the ones who owned Lehman, AIG, etc. They were already dumbed down about as far as they could get. They never should nave paid attention to all those liberals.
I do not see anything in the OP post that mentions anything about liberal or conservative. Yet multiple posters jump on him right away for being a "liberal elitist", simply because of his observation that education and intellectual achievement does not seem to be highly valued in our society.

Interesting.

"[Michael Moore and Al Gore] they are called fat stupid morons by people who cannot write a complete sentence or spell ten words in a row correctly. How did this happen? The ignorant and the stupid are proud of their status in society. They encounter a well-dressed, well-read person who speaks articulately, and their reaction is "He thinks he's so smart". The ignorant see the social viewpoint of the educated, experienced and mature, and then make it a point to advocate policy that is the exact opposite. Why are the foolish so proud of their foolishmess? The failures so pround of their lack of success?"
He talks of Michael Moore and Al Gore as if they're heroes, and calling anyone who's critical of them uneducated idiots. If you don't understand how the rest of his statement isn't liberal elitism at its best, I pity you.

Save your pity Hoss. I understand now you simply take issue wth the "Moore and Gore" references, and feel helplesslycompelled to zone in and attack like red ants after their hill gets stepped on.
I think his point is valid and well taken. Education and intellectual achievement are indeed undervalued in our society, and openly mocked by a large segment of it. Note posts in this thread and others as evidence. One of the reasons we are falling behind in the fields of technology and science and having to import foreign brain power for corporate R and D.
Most people who never go to college end up regretting it the rest of their lives. They even display inferiority complexes from time to time when in the same room with someone that knows how to speak, write, and eloquate themselves better who happened to go to college. This is nothing new
I think to say "most people who never go to college..." is a bit of a generalization, don't you think? There are many, many, successful people who are smart and articulate that never went to college. Some were even high school drop outs. I believe Bill Gates, for example dropped out of high school. Microsoft was started in his garage.
