and since I'd briefly heard of the Mountain Meadows Massacre but didn't know anything about it really, I read the article.
You can see my response on that post, but I'll post it here too (I hope that's allowed?). I don't think many people read the books' posts too much, and this spun off in a different topic anyhow.
I know there have been other big events on September 11'ths, though the 144 years between them is what really caught my eye and sent me to do some more googling.

Since there is a fairly big news story just about every day, somewhere in the world, it would be a fun children's exercise to go to the bible and find some important numbers, and then find a news story that would connect with another news story by factors of one of those numbers. And, due to leap years, September 11 is not the same astronomical day every year. And September 11, even according to your desk calendar, is September 10 or 12 in much of the rest of the world.

Yeah, I have no agenda, I'm a far cry from christian, lds or otherwise, nor am I muslim. What you describe is actually easier than what I did, as the flow of my actions were not in that order you mention. I read the story, subtracted the years, then googled "144 christian" which brought me to the 144 psalm which just so happened to be about their god enabling murder....I just think it's an interesting coincidence.
