I am not really into the Olympic Games, but the more I see and read about the Beijing Olympics the more I see parallels with the 1936 games in Munich. The HUGE displays of perfectly orchestrated people in the opening ceremonies, the incredible amount of police and military to control everything, the censorship and control of where journalists and players can go (they cannot just wander into town un-escorted and without permission, and so many world leaders pretending that everything is just great with China. It is making the hair on the back of my neck begin to bristle...

You know that for being observant you'll probably be labeled a "conspiracy nut" or some such. .....so many examples of the late 30's and not just in China....

There's a big difference, '30s Germany wasn't supplying the world with cheap consumer goods.

I refuse to watch a single second of these games, but I sure am glad to hear that some people are beginning to see what it's really like over there. Maybe the tide will start to turn against the constant cheerleading for China from our politicians and media.

Not as long as there's $$$$$$$$$ to be made off of selling Chinese goods.

Nothing really shocking about this. China is actually more free and open than they used to be.

So, why are you suddenly disturbed now after 60 years of this?

If you are insinuating they are about to go on some global military push like Hitler did then I don't think the similarities hold much water but am open to hear your thoughts. (They certainly are militarizing but they are still a long way back.)
