Does it seem a little ironic to anyone else that Russia and China are experiencing newfound prosperity by embracing capitalism, and we are sinking into a pit of socialism? As the economic turmoil in this country continues I hear more and more people whining for government intervention to lessen the pain of the situation we ourselves have caused, with little or no understanding of what that course will cost in the long term. We have become addicts, unable to experience any type of pain without relief from the very entity that is destroying both our prosperity and our way of life. As a people we are unwilling to stand up for ourselves. We have become soft, lazy, and stupid. And people ask me why I am not more optimistic about the future. It is because I have seen our enemy, he is us.

China can thank U.S. businesses and science for becoming prosperous, as we gave them our technological trade secrets and migrated our manufacturing and research and development over there so companies could save a buck or two.

They are doing relatively well because they are investing to improve their own infrastructure and military, as we are straining our military and putting our country ever deeper in debt.

That was actually really beautifully written.
