Here is the link - Shame on Elaine » All you need to know about Elaine Chao

Something to ponder over for those folks participating in threads that are "union" versus "nonunion" in nature.

Interesting site, indeed.....

I thnik comments like this can go both ways really. It is fairly easy to critise any new bill or regualtion because they all are compromises. Different people see different issues many to do with cost verus abilty to survive in a business etc. Even looking at unions if you want it is a easy case to make that they have corrupt past and have been guilty of promoting their labor over tha labors of others. They have driven up cost to the poorest americans. If you ignore eveythng else a negative comment is easy as we often see alot.

I find the entry about her needing two SUV's and six security people to get her nails done pretty funny. I bet she needs that much security to protect her from the nut jobs on that blog.

One can make the same accusations of business but it's not considered a reason to do away with business.

A union is like any other economic player and seeks to maximize the gain to it's members, just as a corporation seeks to make gains for it's stockholders. What's good for the goose and all that.

When unions seek to organize the poorest Americans, so they'll make more money, they are resisted tooth and nail by business. You can't blame poverty on unions.

I heard Ms. Chao speak before a large group several months ago. She appeared sincere but everytime she mentioned President Bush's name someone in the audience would boo. After a while it became a joke & even Chao laughed & then promised not to say his name but just refer to Bush as "the president" [then more booing started so Chao stopped using any reference to President Bush.

She had a good natured appeal but anyone associated with Bush is automatically suspect as a liar.
