It is going to be a real political tightrope walk if China crosses the line and supplies Russia with weaponry,
the West will have to sanction China severely ...not just a slap on the wrist...full on move away from China.
Then it will be almost like a war on two fronts. People will have to reaiize this is potentially the fight of our
lives...democracy vs. authoritarianism....both China and Russia have been stealthily chipping away
at western democracies for years now, with some success...you can see the fruits of their labor right here
on C-D...amazing to see it ....black is white...wrong is right...Russia/Putin is the good guy...crazy stuff.
We have to watch China like a hawk...and apply as much political pressure on them as possible.
China needs us a whole lot more than they need Russia. They are going to try to make as much money from they can from Russia, but walk a tight line.
China's not going to do anything, except maybe intimidate a few members of CD Forum.
Agreed, China is making a fortune off Western nations. Even Germany, Europe's most dynamic economy, has a major trade deficit with China. The Chinese would be foolish to throw it away.
The smart play for China is to support Russia just enough to keep the war going so Russia continues to weaken herself while at the same time China maintains trading relations with the West. Sort of a balancing act.
Russia's demands are: 1) Ukraine's recognition of Russian-occupied Crimea 2) independence for separatist-controlled Luhansk and Donetsk, and 3) "de-militarisation" and "de-Nazification".
I'm very sure if the U.S. wanted peace they would have made a deal by now.
If the U.S. and Ukraine believe in democracy and freedom then We shall call their bluff on Crimea, Luhansk and Donetsk and demand a free referendum by the U.N. but Zelenskyy won't do any of that because he is getting orders from the West and getting fat rich doing it.

China did a stress test, when sanctioned were applied to Russia, to prepare themselves for potential Western sanctions. Also, the Wuhan virus basically stopped the world's economy including China. Goods practically stopped coming out of China for months. There weren't making much money, if at all, during the lock-down months.
China survived. They didn't fall apart. I think they would survive Western sanctions too. The only question is do they think the risk is worth it, if they were to supply Russia with weapons?
For all I know they could have been supplying Russia with weapons and technical assistance.

Russia wanted all of Donetsk (they had 50%) and Luhansk (they started with 50%, got all and now have lost some back) and now have passed bills annexing them to Russia along with Kherson and Zaphorizia, neither of which they control most of or the key cities.
Ukraine had already agreed not to seek NATO membership, but Russia basically wanted a puppet government and a client state. They wanted another Belarus.
Peace is in the hands of the Russians, not the Americans.
Putin and the people around him are not all insane.
They all have a lot more common sense than Biden and Harris. Fortunately, Biden and Harris aren't running the US. Not sure who is, but its not them!
