Authorities sealed off a nuclear plant in southeastern Sweden after a welder arrived for work with a plastic bag containing traces of an explosive substance, police and plant officials said.

Investigators were questioning the man, who was scheduled to do work at the Oskarshamn plant on Wednesday, police spokesman Sven-Erik Karlsson said.

Notice that the articles didn't say the person had explosives.

Traces of explosives != explosives

There are traces of cocaine in every dollar bill in circulation. Does that mean all of us are drug dealers?

Yes, the article notes that fact.

The article also notes that the plant is / was locked down pending investigation.

The issue / questions are: Did he use the bag to transport explosives? And, were those explosives, if any, put in place?

IMO, if you are too error, error on the side of caution.

The explosive traces were on his hands...it is an explosive not in civilian use.

And this is being reported in 'respected news sources shooting holes in some posters jibe about sensationalising...

Of course security at a nuclear plant or anywhere else for that matter should err on the side of caution.

But it'd be nice to see a news outlet also err on the side of reality. Headline WITH EXPLOSIVES is a far different thing than trace ampunts, as someone mentioned the overwhelming majority of US bills contain traces of cocaine. Would it be responsible journalism to headline "MOST AMERICANS GO TO WORK WITH COCAINE" and then mention trace amounts on bills down below?

The headline WITH EXPLOSIVES..................NUCLEAR PLANT with trace amounts in the small print isn't sensationalizing?

I guess THAT spin helps explain the popularity of FAUX News.

AND why many apparently equate HAS WMDs with HAD WMDs
