_______________________________POPULATION DENSITY

https://www.visualcapitalist.com/map...sity-dot-town/

https://www.alarms.org/top-100-most-...es-in-america/

Guess a few cities you think might top the list of violent crime today
Then see where they rank on these lists
Chicago? New York? Saint Louis?
Check them out, see where they rank
Different sources will vary the ranking but usually not vastly different
Looking at the population density of a city is another factor.
Obviously a higher density city might have a higher crime rate although not necessarily a direct correlation.
The population map is above but here is a more detailed written list of population density in America, some surprises

List of United States cities by population density

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...lation_density

The maps are just for introductory reference more detail below,
various sources for the violent crime rate estimates for various cities.
interestingly, New York with all the media hype on a crime surge,
don't get me wrong there has been a crime surge and it's a problem but on a relative basis
New York is not even making it to these top 100 most violent cities lists and
you will see on the first list they have Chicago at #73
while Danville, IL is at #6.
This is because when you look at a whole city only some parts of it may be particularly violent
These sites will mention their sources, some of it is FBI stats but there is a time lag on some of that
so they also use local data

Note at the end here below, some shocking places listed, looking at the flip side of this

It basically tells me that this is not merely a Northern and West Coastal city thing.... the South including Deep South Conservative states have their share also. Now if this goes to Race card pulled..... thread will devolve quickly and will be basically Rhetoric kinds of post anyway.

Just the maps do not exclude Red states.

I hate to add to the rhetoric coming.... but when Texas goes rogue into succession from the USA.... .maybe you can give Houston to the USA....

As long as no major calamities hit Texas in the next couple years in need of lots of FEMA Aid .... I see a re-elected Gov. WILL with others in the GOP, get it on the ballot for you'all to vote and maybe Houston will be too un-Texas-like to keep..... We shall see...... but guess the Metroplex will be OK to keep then. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm a little surprised to see Alabama SO riddled with crime.

I wouldn't have thought it was THAT bad there.

I read the list of the top worst cities, and the top 4 are tiny.

It seems if you get a little crime spree, with a small population, it kind of skews the crime rate.

Top two are Anniston and Bessemer Alabama, and then Florida City Florida.

Note there is a video from 2020 posted after the OP by Jimmyp25
the list there is wrong for 2020 or any year. It was simply made up by the youtuber
you does a lot of videos where he drives a car through these neighborhoods
Some of the cities are in the top 10 most dangerous, others are not

That isn’t Houston, it’s Port Arthur or Beaumont. Also, Texas skips the list because it has large physical cities so most cities have a substantial portion of suburbia within city-limits mean long on average many Texas cities are meh on the crime scale. But if South Dallas, South Houston, East Fort Worth, East San Antonio where their own cities like they are in many other states Texas would easily make a couple appearances.
