Taxes are not paid in dollars, they're paid in production, work. A hedge-fund manager cannot pay taxes because he doesn't produce anything, regardless of how big the check he writes to the government. When you're evaluating the relative benefit of immigrants, the question isn't how much money they pay in taxes, it is how much work they do relative to how much they consume. If the objective value of their production(not just wages but also profits to their employer) is greater than the objective value of their consumption, then they are a net benefit.

Moreover, the United States government is primarily focused on the size of our economy, not per-capita GDP. China has a much lower per-capita GDP than we do but they also have five times our population. Even if their per-capita GDP was half as much as ours, their total GDP would be twice the size.

Population size is important, as well as integrating the United States with the rest of the Western Hemisphere in order to expand our influence/trade there. Ultimately the US government wants to create a kind of American Union with the entire Western Hemisphere, integrating every country into a single market.
And your point is what???

Any way you try to deflect-foreign criminals (not immigrants) are a huge drain on the American taxpayer. And the Idiot in the Oval has made this mess a disaster in a matter of 6 months.

Half the country doesn't pay taxes. The top 1% pay 40% of the taxes and they love illegal-immigrants.

Immigrants drive down wages, they drive up real-estate prices, they increase certain types of crime, and they create social and political dysfunction. The rest is bull****.

Your impoverished understanding of macroeconomics leads you to the wrong conclusions. Trust me, all immigration is good for the economy. Walmart does not want to deport its customers, landlords don't want to deport their tenants. These people produce goods and services, higher profits for their employers, and drive our consumer economy.

The opposition to illegal-immigration CANNOT be economic. It must be social/cultural. Otherwise it is feckless and pathetic. Either you want these people as your neighbors or you don't. And if you don't, stop making excuses and just come out and say it.

The Bible does NOT teach that we are to use the threat of violence (government force) against peaceful people in order to take their stuff and give it to people who didn't earn it. Giving the poor money that was stolen is not charity.
Then I gather you want all government welfare abolished and let private charities and individuals worry about poor, needy people. Maybe that was how it was done during the time of Jesus.

High immigration levels made sense when the USA was an open frontier with lots of unsettled land. They make no sense at all now, when the frontier has closed and the US literally running out of water and other basic resources for tens of millions of people as it is, and we're in a huge housing bubble so bad that even wealthy Americans can't afford to own homes or start families in.
I couldn't agree more.

That poster you responded to knows all of this. He is just here to stir up you-know-what. Stuff like that gets really old after awhile.

This Nero fiddles (and diddles) while Rome burns.
Gas prices, inflation, invasion, etc., etc. Not good.
We're nearing 6 months with this "administration". It's going to take people of great fortitude to see it through until the next election cycle if the Republic is to continue its existence.

It was that way in the late 1800s and early 1900s when many immigrants arrived. Americans and immigrants alike knew that for them, it was either sink or swim. Many immigrants couldn't hack it and returned to their own countries. There were privately funded charities that helped out, such as the settlement houses. Yet, somehow people managed. The interesting thing is that when people know that the government isn't going to give them money, they go out and find jobs to survive.

Crusius was indicted by prosecutors on 90 federal charges, including 22 counts of committing a hate crime resulting in death, 22 counts of use of a firearm to commit murder, 23 counts of a hate crime involving an attempt to kill and 23 counts of use of a firearm during a crime. That poster knows all that. It's not like Trump could have issued an EO regarding this issue. If it were that easy, he would have done so.
