Unfortunately the Republican Party has been infected with too many corrupt Romney type politicians over the years.

And who is the one driving the split in the party? What Trump means is Republicans need to stick to Trump only. Honestly how much support does he need? You talk ill of Trump and your out the party at this point.
So basically he's terrified they are going to turn on him, with his mounting legal troubles. High ego people like Trump get angry and 'rage' when they get scared. I've seen it often.
He’s not wrong, he won the Republican primary in 2016 because a strong contingent of republicans were sick of “compassionate conservatives” that refused to fight for the policy promises that got them elected when there was even the slightest degree of media pushback.
They wear their weakness like a crown. It is truly something to behold... A group of mostly men who are disgusted by the thought of being a republican and doing what's right for average American blue collar working men and women. The Romney types hated Trump just as much as the democrats. Maybe more so.
