Or maybe Trump is just positioning. We all know that Trump hates weakness. Perhaps the fair weather Republican is just positioning himself to a return to being a fair weather Democrat. Not sure how successful Trump would be in returning to the Democratic party again any longer... probably less successful than he was before. But always good to leave the doors open I guess.
The big problem is the Rinos such as Mitch put party image above ideology. This is evident by Mitch"s words and actions. McConnell is so self righteous it is sickening.... always criticizing Trump for his tweets and overly protective of what HE THINKS the Republican party should be. He is so far off base Mitch can't see the forest for the trees. Mitch does more harm than good for the party.
Always dictating what he thinks is right and he is the most self righteous Rino than most.
Just imagine Pelosi criticizing Biden . well , she doesn't because Nancy doesn't care what Biden says or does , they stick together no matter how corrupt they are . There is no image of the democrat party.. they are full out socialist marxists and support BLM and Antifa. They want them to riot. There is no criticism at all . "They blatantly lie, use every trick in the book and deny deny deny.

You may not like Trump but he is 100% relevant. There is a large segment of the population that believes in Trump's policies. While you may not agree with what Trump says a major portion of this country does.

They are too busy just placating their big corporate donor base. If they had any stones at all would take the temperature of the country and take some decisive actions.
They are either too afraid to nut up or are simply hoping the Dims hang themselves with their crappy left leaning lurch.

That's why I like DeSantis. He's a no nonsense guy, works to get things done and has a lot of the same type of traits as Trump without as much baggage.

I 100% agree with Trump on this. The Republican Party is weak, ineffectual, and certainly doesn’t have the interests of their base in mind when they craft policy.
If the Democrats weren’t infinitely worse, I’d quit the Republican Party for good. But since I’m basically a guy without a party, I have no choice but to consider Republicans, i.e. the lesser of two evils approach.
America first is just a campaign phrase without substance, manufacturing declined and the trade deficit overall increased. The presidency is not about catchy phrases, it's about hard work and compromise. I give Trump credit for taking on China but I just don't see the that it really solved the problem.
Right now he is damaging not only the republican party but the entire country.
In response to you showing that Trump is popular among the 25% of the population that is the Republican base? I dont think they would say much to it at all? Its kinda the point-Trumps not popular much outside of that base.
