The trade war between the US, Mexico and Canada was engage in by Trump, to force those nations to negotiate the USMCA and get rid of NAFTA. And it worked.

The trade wars with China are not to create jobs, not necessarily, as least not in the short term. The trade war was used to force them to negotiate long term trade deals to stop them from stealing intellectual property, to force them to be equal trade partners.

Bush and Obama/Biden all promised to improve trade, all lied and never did a damn thing. It fell on Trump to finally end the unfair trade practices which harmed this nation for three decades. Even O'Biden admitted the USMCA was much better than NAFTA, but he never did a damn thing about NAFTA. Biden is all talk, and all corruption and dark room, under the table schemes.

What did the US get? Not much.

"Overall, the changes from the old NAFTA are mostly cosmetic. After a year and a half of negotiations, the three parties are going to end up with a new trade deal that looks remarkably similar to the old NAFTA. "
