Johnny Rotten aka John Lydon is backing Trump in the election stating he’d be ‘daft as a brush’ to vote for Democratic nominee Joe Biden.

Perhaps he seen too much anarchy in the USA.

The endorsement comes as a surprise given that the singer – stage name Johnny Rotten – previously announced that he had backed Democratic nominees Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton in past US elections.

Lydon told The Observer that he now supports Trump because of the president’s approach to the economy.

The London-born musician became a US citizen in 2013 and currently lives in Los Angeles.

He said: “I’d be daft as a brush not to. He’s the only sensible choice now that Biden is up – he’s incapable of being the man at the helm.”

I love Johnny Rotten and fully support his right to vote for whomever he wants to.

He's not who I'd turn to for thoughtful political analysis, however.

At least he has the guts to make his own mind up unlike a lot of the entertainment industry and Hollywood elite.

Lydon seems to have a similar approach to Ricky Gervais, and won't be intimidated by others.

"The only way to be punk rock in LA is to be a Republican." - Trey Parker

As Tim Pool put it in one his recent videos, punk isn't a specific set of ideas, but more a mindset of rebellion against whatever the controlling cultural narrative demands. Right now, voting for Trump is literally about as punk as counter-culture gets.

John Lydon wearing a MAGA shirt today is as punk as Sid Vicious wearing his swastika shirt in the Chelsea bed interview. Punk is NON-conformity to what the media-political-corporate complex is peddling as the norm. Telling the status quo to eff right off.

He's punk through and through. Whenever you think you have the answer on who he is, he changes the question and sneers at you for being a daft c-word.

True. It means nothing to US politics or Trump or Biden, or anyone but John Lydon.

That said, it's nice to see one of the godfathers of the whole punk thing still rocking the punk life and punk mind. He does what he wants, says what he wants and he just doesn't GAFF how anyone feels. The man is punk all the way down to his DNA.

Its probably more because Johnny Rotten had a thing about safety pins and Trump wears diapers. And back in the day diapers required safety pins. Natural affinity there.

And as for voting for Trump being "punk"? Trump "punks" would all be in their 50s and 60s by now. Perfect age to submit to their corporate overlords.
