Colin Kaepernick said he wants to abolish police and prisons in a new essay published on Medium this week. In the piece, the free agent NFL quarterback looks back at the 2016 decision to kneel during the national anthem at the time, in protest of racial injustice and police brutality.
As part of his new publishing series, "Abolition For The People" on the online platform, Kaepernick said Tuesday that the problem with policing in the U.S. is not "bad apples," but "interlocking systems that are rotten to their core." The activist proposed it needs a complete overhaul.
"The white supremacist institution of policing that stole Breonna Taylor's life from us must be abolished for the safety and well being of our people."
Statistically there is no evidence of systemic racism in policing.
Asians are the least likely to be stopped by police and least likely to have bad outcomes with police. White supremacy?
White men are more likely to get shot by cops than black women. White patriarchy?
The gap in police stops and shootings is bigger between men and women than the gap between blacks and whites.
The gap between young adults and old adults is bigger than the gap between blacks and whites.
Why is this? Because men and young adults commit more crimes and resist arrest at significantly higher rates than women or adult adults.
Fact is when measuring groups you have to look at their crime statistics.
People that have the idiotic idea of abolishing the police and prisons don’t have the intellectual depth to think thru their belief to its logical conclusion. We live in one of the most heavily armed countries in the world. If there are no police, that means for all intents and purposes there is no law. The entire country will be like some Wild West town. We would become a nation of vigilantes. If the leftists that spew this nonsense are outraged over the small number of police killings of unarmed blacks, just wait until mob rule and vigilante justice takes over. The outcome of their proposal will be thousands of dead people.
