What does that entail, exactly? If prisons are abolished, what do you do with murderers, rapists, and other violent criminals? And if police are abolished, who catches them? So easy to say “abolish as is and rebuild as new”. The fact is, no one who proposes this has a clue about what will replace the current system. There has never been a civilized society in history that did not have some sort of policing power and punishment system. Calls to abolish the police and prisons are basically a call to return to barbarism. I don’t own a gun, but if you, Colin Kaepernick, and the rest of you leftists that are pushing this bizarre and unworkable idea get your way, I’ll be buying one. Or two.

The prisons are physically still there.
Look at prisons in other countries like Iseland(forgot exactly where). But it’s less hostile and actually has way less recidivism..
