So it seemed odd, at first, that ABC stepped forward to offer Biden the same time slot, alone, in a town hall meeting type format as planned for the second debate with Trump. Same format, same time slot.

And they did it so QUICKLY after Trump declined the 2nd debate.

It seems to me ABC is doing it this way because of the Fairness Doctrine, where the FCC requires media to offer equal time to both candidates.

ABC can absolutely say, we offered this time slot to both candidates, and Trump initially accepted but then declined. It was firmly in our schedule line up, for both candidates. We would have sure liked to have him participate, but he backed out weeks after agreeing to participate in our show.

So now Biden gets a few hours of free time that Trump has given away.

And the Fairness Doctrine has not been violated.

But you have no issue with having a FLOTUS who gets into arguments with a Hooker to see which one of them can outdo the other??

Your right, the commission is not the president. But it was the president, and the president alone, who is responsible for not having the 2nd debate.

If he was more careful and had not contracted Covid-19, then the format would have stayed the same.

But because he did get covid-19, that means the format had to change.

Unlike the president, the commission wants to ensure the safety of all those in attendance during a global pandemic.

And the president cancelled because of the change of the format....which was a result of his carelessness.

To be honest, I find ironic.

Trump campaign agrees to Biden campaign proposal to push the second debate to October 22 and to schedule a new third debate for October 29.

It’s not chickening out, it was a smart move, the moderator was a former intern of Biden’s so already has biased opinion, also Easier for Biden to receive help with the answers from his handlers, for that matter from Trumps side as well, just to be fair.

At this point everyone has already made their mind up anyway.

Trump was thrashed in debate #1 and knew he would be in the second as well. So he chickened out with the lame excuse about a virtual debate. We all know that this virtual debate would not be some zoom thing with them in front of their phones. It was to be a high tech production with a camera crew at each location and seamless screens and sound. And it would not even have been the first time. 50 years ago! Kennedy and Nixon faced off in a so-called virtual debate. Trump is a coward. That is all there is to it.

Hmm. I'm not seeing any Mainstream Media confirmation of an Oct. 29th third debate, and that was the Trump Campaign proposal, not Biden's proposal.

Biden wanted the debates, all along, to be Oct. 15 and Oct. 22, and Trump has declined the Oct. 15 one but presumedly will attend the Oct. 22 final debate.

Duh, the Kennedy-Nixon debate was SIXTY years ago, in 1960, not fifty years ago in 1970. Kennedy was already dead 50 years ago.
