As for the mom, in that Heavy article it states that she claimed James wanted to be a girl because he was imitating some female character on Frozen.

She has the job she has and doesn't understand that children imitate everything?! That is not grounds to claim that the boy "wants to be a girl". I can't believe that people can't see just how unhinged this lady is - I can't believe she has the position that she has and yet knows NOTHING about children.

I wonder how she has any patients after this.

I think it's more likely that the mom put these thoughts in the kids head.

There are some really screwed up people out there. The fact that the dad is balking at this should be heeded.
