Anyway, amnesty is not "open borders." It is recognizing the reality on the ground.

Treating people with dignity and compassion is not "open borders."

"Open borders" is just nasty talk from the right.
What "Open borders" is, is straight talk from the right.

The D's absolutely support open borders as witnessed by their passion in opposing the wall & keeping our Southern border wide open.

Amnesty is not a reaction to the reality of illegal immigration, it's the plan behind welcoming illegal immigration.

Driver's licenses, abolishing ICE, providing legal services to caravan migrants, sanctuary cities, voting rights, all part of the plan.

We need to split it into 3.

1) Sensible Democrats
2) Proper Republicans
3) Trumpers and Evangelicals.

3 needs to be in a land locked state so they can built a wall round it, not offer their citizens any amenities, pay no taxes and have unlimited gun laws. They can spend their time preaching hypocrisy to each other and building walls around their properties. They will eventually die off from lack of health services and gun violence. Their imaginary friend(s) will not help them at all.

Personally I would be happy to live in 1 or 2. JMHO of course I could be wrong.

Even capitalizing words does not turn a lie into the truth.

There are indeed penalties for not being in the U.S. legally. People are deported constantly.

A path to citizenship is not amnesty.

Amnesty is granting a pardon to people, such as Reagan's amnesty bill did.

It's too late to try to float your lie. The left has already committed to sanctuary cities/states, refusing to cooperate with ICE to deport illegal alien criminals, giving illegal aliens state-issued driver's licenses instead of deporting them because they don't belong here, etc. EVERYONE knows it.

That would work.

BTW, where are these proper Republicans now?

Whether split two or three ways, the more I think about this the more I think it is time.

Folks in the Republican party have been so desperate to live in a nation that they run that they've lied, cheated, stole, buddied up with Russians, covered up crimes, ... in order to win elections.

Enough already. Let them have their own place.

If they want to surround their nation with medieval walls, ban abortions, teach their children that science is wrong, walk around armed to the teeth, ... so be it.

The rest of us can move on without them.

I agree.

It's time.

Sounds like a great idea.

The blue states could haul all the Confederate monuments to the red states where Republicans could worship these traitors and losers in their public squares to their heart's content. So that problem would be solved.

Red states could pick up the tab for subsidizing agri-business corn, soybeans, etc.

Blue states could use their money to expand Medicare.

It's a win-win.
Exactly. Another benefit is no longer having to hear the complaints and typical talking points. Splitting is the response and benefits both sides.

As for agri-business, one of the unsaid truths is most farm labor is done by illegal immigrants. The West Coast is huge for agriculture and they can address the labor issues honestly rather than hoping ICE never comes to Iowa. This combined with global agreements including produce from Central America while shipping popular produce like apples and nuts to Asia should put us on a decent path.

Fine by me. We know after the 2018 midterms that the West is unlikely to be #3 or even #2 but the South, they are free to do whatever they want and we know they will give everything they have to building a wall - a challenge since that requires public funding and eminent domain - socialism! Thankfully we will be free and can stop hearing about it.

Please do not lump all the liars, cheaters and fanatics into one group. Republicans are not all bad, at least not the proper ones who believe in democracy and respect others of all types. Just the Trumpers and hypocritical Evangelicals who worship their MAGA hats and think that dictatorship and interfering in everyone else's business is the way to go. The others are quite well educated and sane people.

Blue states are already on a decent path. Information technology, science, education... is the future. Coal mining and raising subsidized corn, not so much.

But red states have gas, oil, water, and agriculture, and they can build on that. Those are good cards.

It would all work out.
