Record high midterm turnout, with over four million more Democratic voters than Republican voters, does not bode well for Trump or the GOP, no matter how hard you try to spin it otherwise. Young voters in particular were highly motivated to vote. They are a huge demographic, and they also turned out in record numbers and voted for Democrats by a 67/32 percent margin.

The midterm elections were a bellwether of what's to come. Ignore it at your peril.

Honestly, it depends on who he is up against.

if his approval rating is 40 , but his opponents is 35, then well, you get the point.

You also have to remember that approval isnt the same as "I will vote for"

Moderate Republicans and Dems sometimes have high approvals in divided states, but never win those same percentages come election time.

This is one reason Pelosi does not want to impeach. Trump is a great motivator for the Democratic vote. Having him on the ballot not only increases the chances of a Dem president, it also increases the chances of the Dems taking Congress too.

Trump will always have his base, that is a given. He won in 2016 because of the swing votes that couldn't stand Hillary. Well, Hillary isn't running in 2016 and Trump has alienated those voters anyway with his trade war and failure to fix ACA and paying off the bimbos. Those votes are in play for 2020 and will determine who wins.

I guarantee you that if the economy hiccups between now and then, and it is due for a hiccup since it does every 8-10 years anyway, those swing voters are going to dump Trump. The vast middle of the pack voters don't care about SCOTUS picks, they care about their pocket books. So Trump better get his trade war fixed and he better hope the economy goes smoothly, otherwise he will be out of office and looking at indictments from SDNY.

It also works the other way too. With what the Dems are proposing for the future of America if they should get back into power is really scary and it will motivate many people to come out and block them.

Voters fall into 3 categories when it comes to Trump, you either Love him, Loathe him or Lump him.

There were millions of voters that "lumped him" meaning that he was the choice over Hillary continuing the Obama legacy and driving America off the cliff.

I suspect that the same forces will be in play in 2020 given the characters that have come out of far Left field to vie for the Democrat ticket.

In 2016 the people voted against the Devil we knew and I think in 2020 we will vote for the Devil that we know and "Lump".

LOL, keep telling yourself these silly stories. Whatever you gotta do to make it through 2024, when a Republican will take Trump's place.

There's a growing number of people in the under-40 demographic who don't think affordable universal healthcare and affordable debt-free college is "scary." In fact, millions find the ideas to be appealing.

Why President Trump Will Likely Be Reelected, And What It Means For Global Security

Donald Trump’s presidency has been so widely derided in the national media that a casual observer might easily conclude his prospects for reelection are dim. However, that is not what the odds makers are saying. They give Trump a solid edge over any Democratic candidate in 2020....

...He wants to stop subsidizing the security of nations that are not paying their fair share, and focus more on looking out for America’s economy the same way every other nation does....
Global security, huh? So Trump believes Kim Jong-un, Vladimir Putin, and Mohammad Bin Salman Al Saud over U. S. intelligence agencies. What could possibly go wrong?
