Other than federal employees missing a couple paychecks this shutdown was mostly a non event. Perhaps because it was only a partial shutdown but everything ran pretty smoothly and if not for watching the news I wouldn’t of even known it happened.
Yeah, because major airports shutting down is the definition of "everything running pretty smoothly." Unreal.
Why is it a crisis now? Prior to January 2019, the repubs Cheeto's party controlled both houses of Congress.

Air traffic controllers have a critical job in keeping you alive in that plane. What do you think happens when they get stretched with furloughs and no pay? You think that makes them more effective at their jobs?
You think stalling FAA safety inspections makes air travel safer?
You think TSA stretched thin reduces the risk of someone taking explosives, loaded guns, or knives on planes?
