Come on, we gotta tax rich people more at a higher rate than people of modest means. These rich people are very special. They are highly talented and make much from society, so are expected to give back. After all, you wouldn't expect them to make society better and more prosperous by buying 1000 pizzas a day or buying a 100 washing machines every day.

Nope.

Probably.

This article is so silly I almost shot my morning coffee through my nose. Comparing the richest in the world (business/finance moguls) with the poorest (e.g. people starving to death in Africa) is pointless. This article reeks of socialistic overtones and wealth redistribution on a global scale.

The person above who mentioned something about a horse pasture had it dead-on.

What?!
The rich mostly pay for everyones' social services while at the same time they get screwed(most rich people not all). Also less than half of all taxpayers pay Fed income tax and those half expect more handouts from the government. Maybe if they payed their fair share of taxes than there wouldn't be a budget shortfall.

Also most rich people who worked for the money shouldn't be taxed more; than they are especially sine they are not wasting their money like many American's do.

"Most of the world's 1,100 or so billionaires", "big-time religious leaders, media moguls, a few terrorists, a few criminals, and a bunch of miscellaneous actors, singers, scientists, writers and other cultural icons" don't make laws.

You seem to be zeroing in on government, which in this country, at least, is elected. You don't like the job they're doing? Don't vote for them.
