Do you think "normal" people will be sent to the Moon and Mars?
Robert Heinlein wrote about this in the short story It's Great to be Back.
It is about a married couple returning to Earth after working o9n the Moon for years making a lot of money. but then they have to deal with "normal" people not qualified to get into space. They went back to the Moon.
NASA specified that Mercury astronauts had to have an IQ of at least 130.
Also interesting to note that the environment would cause changes to people and if people procreate, new generations would develop based on the environment such as gracity. So in a sense, a new species of human. So it might bring a new form of prejudice(sadly).
We will never colonize the moon or mars.
But trouble will continue as long as there are visual difference between us. When we all look like Halle Berry it will stop.
Agree those places will not support life and it would be impractical. But that's not how evolution works. It works on psychological differences too. Evolution seeks differentialism to work. Why spend so much effort fighting nature just to have it blow up in your face? There's plenty of people who look alike and have trouble.
It is like the caravans of migrants fleeing their home countries due to inherent problems in their own societies but given enough of them coming here they will also transport the very same problems they are fleeing from.
How dare you illustrate the inherent problem and conundrum of liberal ideals.

The Moon, and Mars, will NEVER be "colonized". We cannot survive, or thrive, in those environments.
