I think your postmodernist reference just fell flat on its face. Trump IS the other--one of the very few people in positions of power who has not spent a lifetime as a government parasite. And look how you are reacting to him. If you are going to attempt to use postmodern theory, you'd best brush up on it.

The primary demographic supporting Donald Trump has been shrinking for 20 years. He won about 66% of white Non-College voters, which is shrinking at a rate of 2-3% of national registered voters every four years. If the GOP doesn’t increase its share of the groups that are growing (college grads and minorities), they’ll have to increase their share of white Non-College with every election just to not lose ground. If all groups vote and turnout at the same percentage in 2020 as they did in 2016, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin would slip back into the D column simply due to the fall in white non-college voters. If R leaning independents who voted third party in 2016 return to Trump in 2020 but everything else is exactly the same, the computer simulation is a tie in the Electoral College, with every election seeing the Trump supporting demographic becoming a smaller share to eligible voters.

Trump is a reaction to the demographic change that his base fears, but are powerless to stop. The irony is that the more Trump or a successor cult leader turns up the red meat to appeal to that base, the more likely they will lose younger voters, college grads and minorities that are gaining share in every election. With every Presidential election going forward, the chances of Republican success without broadening their base grow fainter.

Reality is a b*itch, isn’t it?

Basically, everything about the millennial generation that threatens the GOP — its diversity, tolerance, and relative disdain for values rooted in conservative Christianity — is even more likely to be manifested among the post-millennials.
Quote:
Democrats enjoy a 27-percentage-point advantage among Millennial voters (59% are Democrats or lean Democratic, 32% are Republican or lean Republican). In 2014, 53% of Millennial voters were Democrats or leaned Democratic, 37% tilted toward the GOP.

The Silent Generation (born 1928 to 1945) is the only generational group that has more GOP leaners and identifying voters than Democratic-oriented voters. About half (52%) of Silent Generation voters identify with or lean toward the Republican Party, a larger share than a decade ago; 43% identify with or lean toward the Democratic Party.”

Most young Americans can't figure out the difference between securing endowed rights and administering the glorious collective State. In one, the individual's rights are supreme. In the other, the collective is supreme, and the individual is expendable.
Expecting them to discern reality from fabrication is unlikely - thanks to the world's greatest propaganda machine.

I think many are realizing in some cases the collective is more important in other the individual is. I mean free speech is fine so long as you don't start using ethnic, religious or sexual slurs or use words to incite riots. But you look at healthcare and it needs a total overhaul including single payer. Why, we had ObamaCare and that is pretty much a socialized version of the old system. On top of that and partially because of ObamaCare, healthcare companies are becoming giants and buying out everyone and hosing the patients of their doctor don't join.

Trump has played the system for years, he even admitted to it during his debates. He was just a parasite, not a government parasite.

Typical crony capitalist. And he had political connections from day one through his old man.
