People get the gov’t representation that they deserve (ie vote) for.

I left the Bay Area 11 years ago, and continue to feel gratitude for that decision, and the timing of it.

Sadly, stupid ideas like this trickle from Seattle down into SF and then tend to migrate my way here in Austin. It’s a disease.

Just throwing it out there.
Likely not the case. Tech companies in the South Bay have an interest in keeping people on campus for lunch and dinner because it encourages employees to stay focused on work, squelches the potential for sensitive information to be overheard in a public space, and limits opportunities for employee poaching. Mountain View is a dog-eat-dog world. All these benefits are fundamental to the companies' employee-retention efforts. That's why they offer everything from on-site chair massage services to childcare centers.

Why assume FB desires to end the benefit?

It’s good for the culture and employee productivity.

Why? We saw what happened when Seattle ticked Amazon off.

Did I read the word "Democratic" or "leftist" anywhere in that story? Hmmm ...

And how is this supposed to be legal?

Isn't a scheme like this better than a straight tax? What is the problem?
