The Baptist Taliban is at it again, this time in South Carolina. A bill was filed to outlaw same-sex marriage despite the SCOTUS decision in 2015. They also have the nerve to say it's "upholding separation of church and state" because it's separating the state from the "religion of secular humanism."

All the gov't has to do is refuse to recognize any marriages.

People can then go get married in whatever church they want.

Never understood why people flock to get gov't approval of who they have sex and live with.

Fascinating that you actually have to ask that question.

In any state legislature, far more bills get filed than ever even get a hearing.

Depending on who the legislative sponsors are, this bill might get a hearing. But I'd bet that's as far as it will get.

Any excuse to stir up the troops...

They don't.

Live and have sex with any adult you darn well please. The government doesn't give a ****, unless one or both of you are into assault.

But if you want the state to regulate/protect the partners' respective property, inheritance, and parental rights, you need that marriage certificate.

That can be taken care of legally. No need for a marriage.

So ... again why do people seek approval of gov't on how to live their lives? We have LGBT people who screech about how horribly they are treated by the gov't and in the next breath are complaining that the gov't needs to approve of their relationship.

It's bizarre.

Marriage is and will always be between a man a woman. Never between two women or two men or any other combination. It is an abomination.

Some of it can. Some of it can't. No contract you can make with another person will qualify you for the benefits that governments offer to married people, for instance.

You obviously don't know much about the legal implications of marriage. Please don't get married until you see an attorney. This is good advice I'm giving you.
