Certified dogs for blind and deaf are the only service animals that should be allowed on planes. These animals have gone through extensive training. The socalled emotional support animal is ridiculous because some people refuse to leave their pets at home. Several passengers have been mauled by emotional support dogs. Both the passenger and airline in those cases should be sued for the max.

Reason: add word
i flew weekly for three decades, in the US and abroad, and never encountered a single service animal on a flight. i fly occasionally now that i'm retired and have never seen a service animal. these stories in the press of service animals seem to be a needle in a haystack.
I fly for a major airline. Emotional support animals (and service animals)are becoming quite common, unfortunately. I don't like it; it's just another variable that can go bad on any given flight.
I live adjacent to an unincorporated area where a homeowner keeps peacocks. The males scream during mating season, typically March- September. It gets old.
Perhaps those in need of emotional support animals/livestock/poultry might be better off driving or staying at home, instead of warping a law to suit themselves.

I read so many stories about unruly and rude passengers. i very rarely saw bad behavior from human passengers, but i did see it.
i feel for you. You have a difficult, important job.
cheap flights yield low-class clientele. perhaps airlines should raise prices?

It is over-the-top. "Emotional support" animals? Just no. They receive no training and neither do their owners in how to handle the animal. Let them take a stuffed animal or blanket to clutch.
There will be at some point a push to allow only certified, officially certified with a license, for animals that assist people with their disabilities.
The cheaters are causing a lot of issues. Sure, I would feel better emotionally if my dog was allowed to go everywhere with me, BUT it is not a justified NEED.
I don't even like the stores that allow one to bring their dog in. Some of the dogs leave a LOT to be desired.
Peacock? Besides the shriek, have you all saw their feet?

There are certified support animals as well. And I fully support them being allowed on planes. By definition, a certified emotional support animal is well behaved, just like certified dogs for the blind and deaf.
But it's true that many people are claiming this status for their pets, without jumping through the hoops that it takes to get certified.

I've seen a few dogs. Also seen a few passengers that simply drink themselves unconscious rather then face their fear of flying....So emotional support animals are a thing, but theyve always been well behaved.
