All of Trump's ( and family) retail products are manufactured offshore, China, VietNam, Mexico, Thailand, India and Bangladesh where the average wage is .33/ hr.
Trump uses seasonal worker visas and claims he cannot find workers in season in Palm Beach. No issue importing foreign workers but won't recruit from communities adjacent to Palm Beach.
It is beyond me how a candidate running on a US jobs platform, chooses to not walk the talk.
Trump's future is offshore developments that have nothing to do with employing US masses. In Dubai, UAE , his company imports workers from India who live in deplorable isolation and make cents per hour for back breaking work. This is the way it goes in Dubai.
The Bush Admin declared a tax amnesty for US based multi nationals to encourage businesses to bring profits earned off shore back to the US with the intention that those companies would invest this money into R&D and create jobs. These multi nationals were not able to use repatriated monies to increase shareholder dividends.
Multinational response was lukewarm. Those that did participate tended to use repatriated cash to buy back stock and increase shareholder value. Those that participated shed hundreds of thousands of jobs, the opposite of intention.
Starbucks is on schedule to open 900 new stores this year. Most openings are in Asia, India and China.
60% of GE's profits are derived from offshore business.
I am not knocking these ventures. No reason for US business to limit the sale of their product to just 5% of the global population. These ventures do not however do much for US employment.
What I do hear from Trump is an intent to use federal money to create jobs , with a focus on Defense and Security. That he intends does not mean Congress is going to play ball and fund.
What I do hear from Trump is an intent to make it easier for US business to legally import foreign labor.
As far as wealth building goes, that's personal. The US people have historically been lousy savers compared to the rest of the developed world while enjoying a higher standard of living. People seem to prefer to blow their money on immediate gratification than save for a rainy day or retirement. Fancy coffees, lottery tickets, tats, big screen TVs, the latest I- phone, fast food, vacations they cannot afford, houses they cannot afford, cars they cannot afford and in and on. Whatever frugal living skills that were once embraced left the building 60 years ago.
I am not voting for either nominee.
