It went to quarterly earnings calls and ceo types 'returning value to shareholders' and not taking care of customers. It went the way of people who treat others that disagree with them as enemies as opposed to fellow countrymen. It went the way of iconic institutions crumbling under the weight of their own greed and ineptitude.
Lovin the images. Parents are 94 and 90, married 71 years, still living on the farm and doing well. The changes they have seen (and can still relate) in their lifetimes is , to me, more extraordinary than any other generations will ever go through.
That America went away because Americans didn't want to pay for it anymore. And when they could've fought to keep it, they instead elected people (namely Ronald Reagan)who did everything they could to get rid of it.
No sense in whining about it now, but yeah, I remember that America.

I like where I live; rural/suburb area, no crime, no drugs, decent jobs, plenty of homes under $150K, kids play on the street and it's not a worry to anyone, 10 minutes to work, we know all our neighbors and we cook each other food and give each other produce from our gardens, people are friendly, nobody cares if other kids or pets roam each other's yards, but still enough privacy. The downside to where I live is the weather...
I couldn't live in the 50s, being in an interracial marriage would make that time period not as pleasant as today.
You could also drink at work and grab a secretary's ass whenever you wanted to.
