The republicans think a mixed economy in Europe is socialism.

They forget that even the US has social programs too.

The main difference is that Europeans have better social programs than in the US and hence the quality of life over there is better for all.

I do not need social programs, but I recognize many others do.

The answer is right there in your post bubba.

Medicaid
Medicare
VA Healthcare
Welfare
EBT Cards.
Subsidized Housing
Paid Cel-phone minutes
etc.,
etc.,

Brother; you whackos and your constant looking elsewhere with the snide socialism moniker. You wouldn't recognize true "socialism" if it came and hit close to 50% of you upside the head during your wait in the line-up in Walmart to use your EBT card to buy a large soda and bag of cheetos.......oh wait........

The Socialist states evolved mostly after WWII. They can sustain their programs with continuous growth in populations and economic growth. I'm sure the mind-set hasn't changed to continue the system with some refinements but consider Greece as the future of these systems. Not to mention the demographic shift is going to completely change their structures....once the majority changes, they'll have to go to the Mosque to get their social benefits.
The leaders eventually die, that's just a fact of life. The point, which seemed to have gone over your head, is the fact that those countries are still socialist. Even Greece will be socialist in the future. Even after all the economic troubles in Greece, they still have universal healthcare system and taxpayer funded education.

US Social Security is actually more socialist than the European pension systems. For example in Finland, which is a "cradle to grave" nation, most of their retirement benefits come out of sources other than government (pension funds, which you pay into as you work).

I suspect it has as much to do demographics as economic policy.

Notice not one liberal has responded to your post. I guess its easier to whine all day at how much better they take care of the citizens in Europe. I will be willing to wager a lot of people in Europe wish they were over here. I loathe whiners...

Why are you still here, since the quality of life is better for all over there?

He's not the one doing the comparing. He's rather, the one suggesting "your types" not to.

Your types should concentrate on cleaning up the mess in your own yard before critiquing ANYONE else.

Default Move to the socialist state of your choce

all this warm and fuzzy talk about socialist states has my heart throbbing. Imagine a country where you don't have to work but collect a salary anyhow, take mind altering drugs with impunity and support, and don't worry about some foreign invader because you have NATO and the US to defend you. If the US gave up anything military, they could pay their folks to be trolls too. If they didn't mind speaking Russian in about 25 years, it would be utopia.
