A Georgia man will not be charged for shooting and killing a 72-year-old man suffering from Alzheimer’s disease believing him to be a robber, Think Progress reported on Friday.
Walker County District Attorney Herbert Franklin told Think Progress that he interviewed the shooter, 35-year-old Joe Hendrix, who believed he was acting in self-defense at the time.
If someone is trying to break into my house they are going to get shot.
I don't know what liberals think we should do, try and start up a conversation with the person climbing through the window to try and determine their intent.

Sounds logical to me. Most people who try to break in will run away if they realize they're facing a homeowner, let alone an armed one.
Then again, I consider resolving a situation with minimum use of force a success.

Let's play this out. So you want to ask why someone is breaking in think that if they are their to do harm they will then run away. If they do not run away then they are not their to do harm is the logical conclusion of your argument. What happens now that someone breaks into your house and doesn't run away when you yell at them and they are now in your house attacking you and your family?
Here is the code section for here in the liberal CA that specifically says one can assume a person breaking into your house is intent on harming you and you can defend yourself.
"Any person using force intended or likely to cause death or great bodily injury within his or her residence shall be presumed to have held a reasonable fear of imminent peril of death or great bodily injury to self, family, or a member of the household when that force is used against another person, not a member of the family or household, who unlawfully and forcibly enters or has unlawfully and forcibly entered the residence and the person using the force knew or had reason to believe that an unlawful and forcible entry occurred."
Penal Code 198.5
I believe legally resolving a situation that gives myself and my family the greatest chance of safety a success. This is also known as, if you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes.

Not exactly how to parse that, but - yes, I'll yell first.

Then we have a different situation, no?

I know what my rights are as regards deadly force. I simply prefer not exercising them unless forced to. I'd rather have a cleared-up misunderstanding or a bad guy running the f.ck away than taking a life.

Well that's pretty thoughtless of you. You should offer them cookies and milk as well. Burglary takes a lot of energy. You don't want the thief to be malnourished now.....
