Can't argue with this. Cruz is definitely "just the guy"
jjrose is right though. You will never see a marriage amendment to the US Constitution. Ever. But I applaud these two lunatics from Texas for doing this. I sincerely hope Republicans keep fighting this fight. They have absolutely no hope in hell of winning it; it diverts resources from other issues; it does nothing at all to change the bigoted face of the party; it only hurts what little token efforts they were making to be more inclusive.
Doing things like this only harms their chances of ever being in the majority again. It further cements their reputation for being just heartless, evil bigots. Even John McCain is growing tired of these numbskulls. Most people reacted to the 2012 GOP autopsy with a hearty chuckle. We knew they would never make any changes. They'll pay the price. And it serves them right.
That's really the best you could come up with? Holy cow.
Also, from the article:
And he was talking about Mike Lee who is a Senator from Utah not Weber who is a congressman from Texas who introduced an entirely different bill in the house not the senate.

Wow.
Terrifies no. Disgusts yes. And absolutely homosexuals aren't the only problems in this country just the current one...we have been headed down this road since the last revolution ended...I am actually surprised another revolution hasn't happened.
I just feel sorry for the many Republicans who don't want to be part of the Party of Stupid so many are turning it into. Compassionate Conservatism, let's do that thing. Not this hateful banter that's always in the headlines today.
To think that the American people would support and vote for an amendment to the US constitution[in which most amendments affirm the rights of the people] to give rights to the states to discriminate against other Americans is at the highest level of delusion.

To think that people openly support discrimination. What's interesting is they never for a moment think "How would it feel if I were discriminated against for......" yada yada yada. They don't care. These are the people that should be rounded up & shipped out. We don't need nor want those types of people in this country.
Only people being discriminated against is the business owners FORCED by homosexuals to take their pictures or bake their cakes etc...homosexuals can marry any woman they want to or for the female homosexuals any man they want to...no discrimination there at all.
"States can not pass unconstitutional laws.
This probably the stupidest claim I have ever read here on CD.
A state CAN pass ANY law it wants to, It THEN can be challenged in the courts.
Where do you people come up with this nonsense?
States can pass laws, however that is not what Cruz is doing here. He wants to change Federal Law that says the Feds will not recognize same sex marriages if the couple resides in a state where it is banned. Currently most Federal Marriage laws are based on state of celebration and not state of residence.
Currently since the DOMA decision if a gay couple from Texas travels to NY, gets married, they are entitled to many Federal Marriage benefits even though they reside in Texas in which their marriage by the state is not recognized.
