1. people making minimum wage are often collecting welfare or food stamps.
2. if a business pays them minimum wage, we subsidize their employees by making up the shortfall.
3. paying people a higher wage will result in them getting off of welfare and food stamps.

Is the debate that 1,2, or 3 are wrong? If not.....why aren't people all for businesses paying more so that we aren't putting people on welfare and food stamps? If a business cannot survive without a government subsidizing their employees, isnt it a good thing that they dont survive?
Your paycheck is not based on the size of your brood, it's based on your skill set. If you can't afford to feed your family because you don't have the skills for a high paying job, don't blame corporations.

You want to deal with reality ?

$15/hour won't cut it. They'll still be on welfare programs.
Do the math my friend.
They need $28-30/hour. Our welfare programs have propelled the poor into middle class territory.

What company is going to pay $28-30/hour for unskilled work ?

Do people not understand supply and demand? If a bunch of people get skills those jobs they got skills for will see an decrease in pay since so many people can do it. That and there not enough of these jobs for everyone.
