Welcome to the restaurant business, many restaurants fail all the time. Even your article states that it had nothing to do with the increase of wages.
yeah, restaurants fail when the owners run out of money.. Thus the higher the wages, the faster they fall.. No different than any other industry.
Tell me, did you start your imaginary business you were talking about opening up? You know, the one where you were going to pay a starting wage of $25 an hour, for inexperienced individuals to work for you?
most buffets have waiters/waitresses, at least around here. They come take the empty plates and refill the drinks.
Ponderosa, Country Buffet etc
Everywhere that I have been it is the bus staff that picks up the dirty dishes, not the wait staff. How many waiters/waitresses do they need to serve and refill drinks? If they have more than one, except on really busy days, then they have more than they need.
And yet, no one else at the casino lost their job. You seem to be stuck on this one point while ignoring all the other facts.
That makes me more suspicious this was raise related (last nail in the coffin), with long-term losses used as public relations spin not to announce it as such.

Well I guess you will just have to speculate. But there aren't any facts to back up your speculations.

Great job! Go ahead and deny the obvious economic fact of life: when you arbitrarily raise the cost of ANYTHING (including labor) then less will be demanded by the marketplace.
Like the UAW, and the unions in the Hostess bankruptcy, etc., etc., etc., these people found out that you cannot sustainably collect more than the market value of your labor--no matter what the contract says.
But you go ahead and keep your head buried in the sand, and keep on arguing for making it illegal for more people to sell low-skill labor for its market value. If your labor isn't worth $15 per hour, a $15 per hour minimum wage law will put you out of work.
I do not know why you hate people on the bottom rung of the employment ladder so much.

He doesn't hate people on the bottom rung. He is all for salary equity, meaning regardless of the financial position of the company, workers should get paid more because the corporations are healthy. He doesn't get the corporation could divest itself of a non-profitable business whatever the wage of the workers. If the workers are getting more than the company can take in to survive, the business goes belly-up faster.

So why didn't everyone else at the casino lose their job if this raise in pay was so horrible?

The restaurant was not profitable.
Get with it.
