The strictest interpretation of the establishment clause ("separation of chuch and state") is the best way to provide for religious freedom. The less the government touches, recognizes, or regulates religion the better.

Christians are constantly being attacked, hated and persecuted in the US. War on Christmas is one example, removed of public prayers, public religious symbols, etc.
