Liberals like to play the race card but when the south was racist it was Democrat. It isn't racist now and it generally votes REpublican. If Democrats gave up issues like abortion they could probably win many southern states with t heir class warfare rhetoric, especially poorer states like Miss.
Interestingly enough, many Southern states have local Democratic control but vote Republican nationally. The issue is the Dems platform, plain and simple. Southerners are not going to vote for candidates that are pro-drugs, anti-gun, and pro-abortion.

You have to admit the Democrat party is quite pro-Marijuana as a whole. That doesn't play too well in the South.

Many years ago I use to be clueless just like you are because I towed the party line and anything they said I believed.

The deficit is not down, gas prices are down from what period of time, six months ago. And you have no clue why the stock market is at all time highs. Read about Quantitative Easing and the fed pumping 85 billion into the market every month.

This country will never get back on the right track if people continue to put blinders on and follow their favorite political party.

It's Democratic party. And if you're a conservative you should believe that people have the right to consume what they want. Including drugs.

Most conservatives aren't brain-dead libertarians.

Get a clue.

You're premise is that all conservatives are libertarians. They are not.

Fair enough. They aren't primarily at the local level in the South but the national party does seem to be leaning that way. It's not just the drugs part of it though. I think there are other social positions of the Dems that do not play well in the South. Again, it's primarily the national party where you see that distinction though. Take a hard look at the South and you will see it votes largely Dem locally and Republican nationally.

I guess I don't really care one way or the other about marijuana. I don't use it anymore and am of the opinion that it's legalization is of little importance to our society as a whole.
