So...let me see if I have this straight. You are celebrating obama and his come to jesus, by way of capitulating to the GOP on the tax cut deal, which they cornered him on, and then he threw his liberal membership in the House under his bus, where he proceeded to break one of his main campaign pledges.....I thought you didn't want those tax rate extensions for the "rich"?
We might be in a depression by 2012 though. Businesses still won't be hiring if their taxes are going up under Obama and they suspect it will. My hubby's company is not planning any new things for the future or planning on hiring anyone.
Obama disappointed the more Progressive portion of his base by way too much patience and compromise with the arrogant and just say no Republicans, but he has gotten much legislation passed whether you agree with the policies or not. Obama is obviously very good strategist and will get things done in spite of the GOP. I cannot believe that this has to be explained to you.
The conservative gloaters were simply fooled again by the flapping and squawking that liberals ritually engage in before folding at Obama's feet. House liberals did it with Obamacare; they did it with the tax deal. Their boisterous protests are reminiscent of the floor demonstrations we used to see at party conventions when the losing candidate's partisans would dance and shout in the aisles for a while before settling down to eventually nominate the other guy by acclamation.
And Obama pulled this off at his lowest political ebb. After the shambles of the election and with no bargaining power — the Republicans could have gotten everything they wanted on the Bush tax cuts retroactively in January without fear of an Obama veto — he walks away with what even Paul Ryan admits was $313 billion in superfluous spending. I generally respect Krauthammer, and I think it's wise to not underestimate Obama. Come 2012 he will be in full campaign mode with all of his slick slogans again hoping to sway his ignorant base into voting for him a second time. I think though, that the intellects of the left's base will still be feeling the sting of all his broken promises and run someone against him in the primary. If they find someone decent, Obama won't stand a chance.

Honestly, if you want to be accurate, it was Nancy Pelosi who pushed all the agenda through. She deserves the credit, not Obama. He didn't even give input into the health care debate... left it up to congress to craft. I may truly dislike Pelosi and think she is 100% wrong on just about everything, but I give her credit for ramming through all her crap. Obama just signed the legislation, she got it to his desk.

BECAUSE of the GOP you mean? Because we all know without the GOP, NONE of this would have passed.

I don't think the electorate will be fooled again by the catchy phrases and slogans.. other than his hardcore believers.
If the economy is still bad and UE is still high, if obamacare is still bringing us nasty little surprises, or deemed unconstitutional by the high court, he will be in trouble.
