A few generations ago basic civic responsibility included taking care of your own family. Families would have been embarrassed and petrified to take "welfare". It was shameful.

Today, a growing segment of the population feels entitled. Every society needs a safety net and should always care for those truly in need. The disabled and seniors and children should take priority over capable adults. We have 30 million illegals here because according to the liberal leadership they are the only ones left who will pick up a shovel.

This needs to change and some people do not see this as a problem . This right here is why republicans should never have a majority of any every again if they do they will own 60% to 70% of the wealth and US will be a third world country
Have you ever seen what happens when a poor person wins the lottery? Poor people must learn how to earn and manage money before they can hold on to money. Redistribution of wealth is a waste of time.

Think very carefully about this...

Which nets the most votes? One person earning $1 million? Or 50 people earning $20,000 each?

We now have identified a second very strong incentive for politicians to keep the income gap as wide as possible, and to buy low-income votes with government freebies, etc.

This is the **** for brains logic of the right wing constituents.
No, trickle down works very well when it is allowed to.

The problem comes from the left's definition of trickle down as being some sort of entitlement.

You will never get your "share" of the trickle if you just sit there and wait for it to fall into your lap out of some childish sense of "fairness".

You have to work for it, fight for it and be willing to stand up and grab your share of it.
Because if you don't, then someone else will.

That's trickle down.....and it looks a lot like work.

That's just a rewording of the Romney meme that Obama won because he gave "gifts" to blacks, Hispanics and young voters during Obama’s first term.

This is interesting, because Romney donors gave his campaign “gifts” of around $900 million, nearly twice as much as Romney said he had expected to raise, presumably because those donors believed Romney would give them the "gift" of endless tax breaks and cut regulations on their businesses and labor.

The idea that elected officials shouldn't foster policies that help the public live better lives but should instead foster policies that help the super elite, has no logical support.

It actually sounds a lot like evolution, i.e., survival of the fittest, which is what the left 'claims' to believe in.

When the highest income brackets are at or near the poverty line, while the absurd money bracket jumps, you have problems. If you can't admit that and still blame it on people "not trying hard enough" then you're too deluded to even have a conversation with.

Oh, and before you go off all half-cocked about how I'm poor and jealous, I typically fall between the 70%-80% line in income. So spare me that one.
You're free to believe what you like but be aware that they changed the scale on that graph to show the huge jump at the end. They even tell you they changed it. This graph has been discussed plenty of times elsewhere. The second to the last bar is the doctors and lawyers and small business owners and tops out pretty low. The last bar is the baseball players and Hollywood and big business types. Our income distribution is consistent with normal biology and our political structure.

Here's a little tip for you graph lovers: you can upload an image to Google search. Any image. It's like searching for a term but instead with a picture.

The next time somebody posts a cool graph, upload it. You might be surprised what you learn, and how there are lots of people who spend lots of time painting pretty pictures with the sole purpose of deceiving the masses.

We have a regular poster here who loves pretty pictures. I used to think he was one of the deceivers but realize now he's just one of the deceived.

typical marxist/communist thinking. kill the rich and give their money away to everyone else!!

Please don't dash yourself on the rocks about this. Look into it and you'll understand.
absolutely right. take everything away from george soros, warren buffet, the koch brothers, and every other rich person today, and with in a year or two they will be back among the rich again. and take those assets you took from the rich, and give them to the poor, and the poor will be poor again with in the year or two as well.
