Way too many people are disenfranchised, but the most important one to the overall future of our nation is the middle class. Quit shipping our jobs overseas for the sake of a cheaper product.

If you feel that the most disfranchised group is not in my poll, then write who you think it is and why in a post under this thread, like previously explained in the original post.

I'm a little surprised that I'm the only one to pick blacks.

They're politically linked to a single party which largely takes their vote as a given so they limited political power and IMO are the most marginalized. Latinos are being wooed by both parties. Additionally, blacks are one of the poorer minority groups (unlike gays and others)....so they don't even have the power of the dollar in terms of having a political voice.

It's funny that one of the most disenfranchised group was missing from the list - Native Americans. Losing your ancestral lands is as bad as being stolen from your ancestral lands, and many Native Americans were taken to the Old World as slaves as well. So I'd have to say the most disenfranchised group is a tie between Native Americans and African Americans, though I believe both groups have come a long way baby.

One you didn't include - the obese. Not only is it socially acceptable to discriminate against them or disparage them, it is encouraged.

Correct, but do you think they are the 'most' disfranchised group? I would say no, since it's clear that many people cater to their every need. Including fast food, gas stations, restaurants, etc. And I'm not just talking about the "food" either. They cater to them with the seating! I went to a newer mcdonalds, and the seats were like made for 400 pound people. No joke.

It also depends if if talking about Rez Indians or the ones who walked away from that "life". Too; many Black and white people have Indian ancestors and MOST Hispanics in the US are "American Indian" but don't like to claim it much like DomRep people don't claim "Black" tho most are.
