If the coach in fact created this hostile work environment by encouraging the harassment of Martin, and the general manager, when made aware by Martian's complaints did nothing about it but rather suggested Martin physically assault the players harassing him, Martin and all the Harvard trained lawyers in his family are going to have a field day suing the hell out of the Dolphins organization.
Of course, the irony here is you are advocating what is probably the biggest culprit to our inevitably collapsing society...the frivolous lawsuit. ...
When will people learn that the taming of aggression is to appease the comfort of the state and not to promote civility?
Last time I checked, the NFL is a workplace subject to the same laws as any other. When is it acceptable to teach that aggression and physical violence is an appropriate response and remedy to workplace harrasment (or really most situations for that matter)?

Yeah HTime, that's what I was thinking exactly. Having one of the coaches tell the players to toughen up a buy makes the Dolphins organization entirely liable here. They could easily face a lawsuit for every dollar Martin would have earned, plus pain and suffering. They plaintiff would obviously have deep pockets, great laywers and a very good case which is a black eye for the defendant.
There's a good chance that Philbin loses his job over this. He seemed like a bit of a tool on Hard Knocks anyways. That people running an organization of this caliber let this happen is ridiculous.
The happiest person in the NFL regarding this is probably Coach Greg Schiano at Tampa Bay. This has dominated the news and you don't hear a thing any longer about the controversy between him and their former QB Freeman. BTW, they really played Seattle tough on Sunday but still lost.
Philbin had better get as much info out as he can before this weekend or he definitely will be in trouble. I predict he will be doing a major mea culpa soon ("My intentions were good, but I exercised poor judgement and apologize" sort of thing) in order to try and hold onto his job. If he continues to do what he is doing now, he will be gone.

Actually, a lawsuit against the Dolphins and/or the NFL would be about accountability - it isn't about Incognito anymore. Your red herring comments about Syria and sweatshops are just nonsensical.
If Martin is really concerned about monetary gain, filing a lawsuit against a very powerful and resource rich organization isn't probably the best way to do it. Number one, it pretty much means he's saying good-bye to an NFL career.
No team is going to hire Martin, because he made it abundantly clear he cannot be trusted and will run to the media when his feelings are hurt. Instead he is trying to extort a couple of million from the league.
