The gun owners I know aren't like that, though I am sure their are more than enough RWNJs that are in constant fear that the government is coming for them.
Saw a lot of those tea party type t shirts and paranoid anti government propaganda. Even my friend I went with started talking about race riots.
Is this view common amongst gun owners?? I hope not.
You're a liberal -- why on earth are you going to a shooting range????? Obama would be furious to think his liberals are using guns or believing in second amendment rights.
I went to a range outside Atlanta a few months ago and everyone was really friendly. It was a fun experience. The people there were overwhelmingly conservative, sure, but nothing tipped me off about anti-government, Tea Party stuff.

I went shooting, also. Noticed lots of liberal types. One shirt said "give me food stamps or give me death". Another lady wore a shirt that said "the tree of liberty needs to be fertilized with organic compost and pruned from time to time".
The worst was the shirt that said "I sure hope you have lots of spare change".

Get yourself a double barrel shotgun, and randomly fire two shots into the air, like Joe Biden says. With luck you will hit one of those fringe anti-government types. That is the progressive way to do it.
The OP needs to stop going to shooting ranges and get back to his rainbow people meetings.
