Please explain why Darrel Issa's house committee is so absolutely powerless, then. Those boys have been tossing around talk of impeachment and felonious presidential conduct. If there's anything to these horrible charges they spout off, why haven't they done something? Where's the beef?
My bet is there isn't even a calf. But they can sure stir up the Obama-hating extremists with that kind of loose talk.
Link to where the committee has been discussing impeachment please.
Obama tried the fast and furious strategy in benghazi to arm the guys who sacked the embassy. It worked well to distribute proprietary weapons to the enemy.
Too bad Holder is above the law and under the wing of the criminal in charge who sits in the whitehouse.
Holder and Obama think they are above the law. All it will take is a Republican majority in the Senate to change that. Attorney General John Mitchell under Nixon did prison time. Hopefully, so will Holder.
Impeachment is not going to happen with the Dems controlling the Senate. Obama would not be impeached even if he shot John Boehner in the Oval Office in front of his entire cabinet.
A federal judge has rejected Attorney General Eric Holder’s attempt to keep the courts from wading into the “Fast and Furious” documents dispute that led to him being held in contempt by the House last year.
From that ruling on 9/30/13 from US District Judge, Amy Berman Jackson (Obama appointee)
Quote:
“This case presents the sort of question that the courts are traditionally called upon to resolve,” Jackson said in her 44-page decision, issued more than five months after lawyers argued the issue in her packed courtroom and more than a year after the House committee filed suit. “Dismissing the case without hearing it would in effect place the court’s finger on the scale, designating the executive as the victor based solely on his untested assertion that the privilege applies,” she wrote.
A Justice Department spokesman said officials there were reviewing the decision.
An Up-date on what the DOJ and Judge Amy Berman did next ……
This appeal was a hoot - A normal appeal is after a verdict in a case, but Holder wanted to "appeal" to stop the case from going forward on the grounds that a court case would be bad publicity for him.
Quote:
The new motion (posted here) asks Jackson to allow the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit to weigh in on that question before the case continues.
"The very experience of participating in such proceedings will cause harm—to the Defendant, the Executive Branch, and the separation of powers—that cannot be reversed if the D.C. Circuit ultimately rules in Defendant’s favor on the threshold questions presented," the motion says.
Holder clearly doesn't think the first Congressional Contempt for any US Attorney General in our history has caused "harm" …… he just wants this case to go away and always believed it would never come to trial. He learned today that this Judge is not going to roll over - Judge Jackson turned down his Appeal to Appeal before the case is even presented.
Jackson's latest ruling means it is likely the Justice Department will have to produce a detailed log of what was withheld from the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and why. Rounds of protracted litigation over the legitimacy of the withholdings seem all but certain, unless the sides come to an agreement which has heretofore eluded them.
We are not even close to finding out what went on with the Fast & Furious scandal and Holder's Lies to Congress ……. but we are moving a bit closer. Holder's Appeal to keep the case out of court was filed on Friday afternoon, Judge Jackson ruled on Monday. She appears to be a no nonsense Judge.
