It's a good trait when the self control has a positive outcome... i.e. controlling yourself from eating everything in sight, as that would lead to obesity, diabetes, etc. How does controlling your desire to be with somebody of the same sex benefit someone? How does pretending to be something you're not, deceiving people (by pretending to be in love with someone of the opposite sex), lying, and causing yourself mental anguish benefit them?
I'm not talking about promiscuity, either, as that isn't specific to gay people - I'm talking more about your average homosexual, who just wants to find someone special with whom to share their lives. I know many gay couples, and all but one or two are "serial monogamists" or in a long-lasting marriage/DP. Oh, and don't give me a religion-based answer either, since that only applies to people who believe in that stuff.
What do these people want? Do they really want me, as a gay man, to marry a women?

They take on the identity of a homosexual... they live in an all gay world . One was a child once and finds themselves in all kinds of situations . One has a role in what they accept , what they believe. We are complex beings and above all God loves us where ever we are. He created all of us . I am telling you the truth . I wish you no ill will. God just wants the best for all of us. His love is above any love here on earth.
A man can love another man deeply but to have a sexual relationship is crossing the line. Having such feelings should not be entertained. This is the spirit of confusion ,having admiration, emotions, and running away with thoughts of love in a romantic manner is the seducing spirit for a person of the same sex. Why does it have to be a person's identity? And why do you feel like you got to push your bangin in the butt lifestyle on others?

That's why they make laws, to protect people. If everyone was gay, there would be no population growth, so assuming that we were put on this planet to procreate like every other species on earth, gayness is abnormal.
So, why should people have to deal with someone telling their society that should accept a person's deviant behavior.
