I just don't get how people sleep at night when they fight to profit off of the death of a loved one. Suing for millions of dollars won't bring the person back. It appears to me that to do so is dishonorable and reveals a person's true love in life: Money above all else.

You need to be more specific.

Ron Goldman's dad kinda crimped OJ's lifestyle. I would have done the same if I was him.

My worst fear is not the death but the expense that comes with death...I hate the fact that yu have to pay to die. You would think that the ticket leaving this world would be free....as for profiting from death - undertakers do it. Frankly it's easy for a well off person to say it is dishonorable to gain through inheritance or an insurance policy...money for the living is not a bad thing- grieve in poverty or grieve in comfort? One of my daughter is traveling through parts of the world that are not as safe as here...She has travelers insurance and her little brother gets the three million if she is kidnapped by pirates and dumped in the ocean....Cold on my part- yes....but so what....as for suing - a waste of time and energy and it sucks the life out of you...suing is not worth the pay off if it comes.

In many cases there are big expenses after a person dies. ie, Funerals expenses, travels, sometimes a spouse will lose a job are have to move. There could be children to raise and send to college, etc..

Why should undertakers take care of bodies for free? It's a business. And it's not that hard to understand.

The amount sued for in the cases I've seen far outpace those costs. It's blood money. Plain and simple.

It's not revenge. Sometimes the loss of a single person effects the lives of many others financially and that has to be considered. It's also a deterrent to keep other from doing the same thing that caused the wrongful death.
