Here are a few links to read through. And today, we reward poor behavior. In 1950 the average length of unemployment was 12 weeks. You didn't have a choice, there was no '99-weeks of unemployment' to fall back on. You found a new job quickly or your didn't eat. We don't incentivize people to take care of themselves today. We reward people for living beyond their means and we are paying the price. The middle class lifestyle of 1950 would be considered poor today. So I still do think the middle class doesn't have a lot to complain about.
