There are hundreds if not thousands of species that can be considered apex predators many of which could be considered to equal to humans depending upon the circumstances.

apes and monkeys based on that we share 98% Human DNA only 2% diffence between man and ape Gorrilas can learn to talk to us through and can use American Sign Language they have all the same emotions and feelings as us and are creative Koko even painted.

Well, thats very dependent on how we are "wiped out" now wouldn't it?

If we are talking about the world as it is today, its my thoughts that house cats may increase in size and reach the top of the food chain. Intelligence is another guess entirely, it would take millions of years for anything to get to that anyway.

I think I'd go with Crocs over Gorillas. Unless Koko advances rapidly to making weapons and stuff.. possible I guess.

know not sure if that shows intelligence but shows that gorrilas watch TV like we do in fact I wonder why we do not educate more but if we die off.. I think we know what will replace us and not much would change because we sit around watching TV already and looks like gorrilas would also.
